2004. Frantic consumption is replaced by recycling and the humanitarian system is called up as a mode of action. Bilbao

In Andrea Crews' work frantic consumption is replaced by recycling and the humanitarian system is called up as a mode of action. The public utility cooperative and local enterprise Berohi of Bilbao provided a pile of second hand clothing. A sewing workshop was set up using the same in the Ribera Market. During the course of a week, in the resulting din, among the many tables, numerous needles and pairs of scissors, a team of seamstresses, recognised designers, young creators, improvised artists and anyone interested explore the stack of clothing and identify the garments. Following their fabrication, the creations will be presented on September 25 at a parade/auction, on the occasion of the second edition of Modorrra. On offer is work by designers like Miriam Ocariz, Alicia Rueda, Celicia Sörensen, Elisa Aman, Marta Terán, Noelia Navarro (Nona), Juanjo Gómez and Carlos Cid (Yolotaola), Tamara Campaña and Lorena Álvarez (diezcampaña), as well as that of unknown artists. A percentage of the sale of each item is to be given to Berohi and to each author. A selection of several pieces that were not exhibited during the auction can be adquired at Ah! fashion shop.

Produced by consonni, the French Institute of Bilbao and Andrea Crews with the backing of the Regional Council of Bizkaia and the Basque Government and in collaboration with Modorrra, Sala Moyua de Brancas, Berohi Cop., Caritas and Jazkilan.
