After the International Meeting of New Artistic Forms PROTOTIPOAK in 2016, Azkuna Zentroa presents PROTOTIPOAK: SALOIA #1 on 25 May, a multidisciplinary and festive meeting which will reflect on the previous biennial edition, and where questions for the forthcoming edition that is to be held in 2018 will be proposed.

Taking as a reference the parlours of the late eighteenth, nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, SALOIA #1 will take place under the guidance and inspiration of Alicia San Juan. It will bring together people who, in one way or another, took part in PROTOTIPOAK 2016, in addition to local projects and people specialised in different knowledge and practices who, throughout the event, will share their thoughts and ideas via various artistic actions.

As the transversal pivot of the event, there will be brief conversations reflecting on the festival in general, and specifically on the first edition held in 2016. To this end, we will be honoured by the presence of Rosa Casado, one of PROTOTIPOAK co-ordinators, who will be conversing with Óscar Cornago, stage theorist and researcher, and spectator of this international meeting. The theoretical physicist Belén Valenzuela and Susana Carro Ripalda, from the Applied Ethics of Deusto University will also be taking part to talk about emerging processes and ecology.

Among the projects invited, we count on the participation of Consonni and its project LaPublika, in addition to Idoia Zabaleta, from Azala, and her project Proklama in collaboration with Artium.

Chico y chica will be providing the music for the event, which will finalise with Itxaso Diaz´s audiovisual projection on the workshop ‘Olvidándonos y recordándonos a nosotros mismos’ by the Welsh artist and choreographer Cai Tomos, which took place in Mano de Santa during the Prototipoak 2016 international meeting.
